Baghdatis beats fifth-seeded Tiafoe in Atlanta Open

Baghdatis beats fifth-seeded Tiafoe in Atlanta Open”

That helped set up the second straight Isner-Harrison Atlanta final with Isner triumphing a year ago.

A four-time victor of the ATP 250 tournament, top seed Isner prevailed 6-4 6-7 (6-8) 6-1 to reach the decider on Saturday.

Second seed Schwartzman, who struggled to find his serving rhythm and recorded eight double faults, fell short at the quarter-finals stage in Hamburg for a second consecutive year.

John Isner advanced to the BB&T Atlanta Open semi-finals after a 7-5 4-6 6-1 win over Mischa Zverev on Friday.

Isner improved to 4-1 against Ebden, rebounding for a loss in the Australian Open.

He secured a decisive break in the third game en route to taking the opening set before his 31-year-old opponent responded in emphatic fashion to level by winning the second in just 30 minutes.

"I'm very comfortable here", Isner, the 6-foot-10 former University of Georgia star, said.

"I've been on the other end where you have four or five chances to put your stamp on the match and you don't get it".

'I have played really, really well all week.

Norrie will now meet Ryan Harrison, who defeated Chung Hyeon 6-7 (3-7) 6-2 7-6 (7-5), in his second ATP World Tour semi-final appearance after reaching the same stage at the Lyon Open in May.

Slovakia's Jozef Kovalik beat Brazilian Thiago Monteiro 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the final quarterfinal. He is also the only one in the group to ever win a tournament on the Tour - a pair of titles at Hamburg, including a year ago.

He will next face the 101st-ranked player in the world, Laslo Djere of Serbia.

Basilashvili, a tournament qualifier looking for the first tournament win of his career, topped Chilean Nicolas Jarry in the semifinals 7-5, 0-6, 6-1.

Australia's Matthew Ebden made his way past Cyprus's Marcos Baghdatis and into the semi-finals.
