Carrie Fisher remembered as Star Wars filming begins

Carrie Fisher remembered as Star Wars filming begins”

He's picked quite the day to launch it, reporting on the first day of shooting on Star Wars Episode IX.

All the mainstays are back including Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac.

Director J.J. Abrams has marked the official start of principal photography on Star Wars: Episode IX with a heartfelt message to fans. But this being J.J. Abrams, there could be some hidden nuggets within, as you can make out John Boyega's Finn smiling and chatting in the background with... Poe? Joining the cast of Episode IX are Naomi Ackie (Doctor Who), Richard E. Grant (Gosford Park, Hudson Hawk) and Keri Russell (The Americans), who will be joined by veteran Star Wars actors Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, and Billy Dee Williams, who will reprise his role as Lando Calrissian. Grateful to Rian Johnson and special thanks to George Lucas for creating this incredible world and beginning a story of which we are lucky to be a part.

Abrams celebrated Fisher in the announcement.

With production now underway on Star Wars: Episode IX, prepare for plenty for J.J. Abrams updates from now until the movie's December 2019 release.

"With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie [Lourd], we have found a way to honor Carrie's legacy and role as Leia in "Episode IX" by using unseen footage we shot together in 'Episode VII, '" continued Abrams, who co-wrote the script with Chris Terrio.
