Fury-Wilder contest likely to be held in April, according to insider

Fury-Wilder contest likely to be held in April, according to insider”

TYSON Fury has vowed to knock out Francesco Pianeta at Windsor Park on August 18 and then set his mind to doing the same to WBC champion Deontay Wilder.

The Briton returned to the ring in June after a 32-month absence with a stoppage victory over Sefer Seferi at the Manchester Arena.

Pace has been gathering recently about the opportunity for former champ Tyson Fury to step back in to the ring, with potential showdowns against Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder even discussed around the boxing world. 'Very close to being done.

"It is out there now, and I can reveal that negotiations have been very strong for December".

"We're nearly done with this deal".

"I've got to flatten [Francesco Pianeta] first but then Wilder, let's dance", Fury said.

Fury went on to tell BT Sport later in the day that he'd be willing to fight Wilder anywhere.

'You've been dealing with s**thouses in the past, with Eddie Hearn and with Joshua but I am a man of my word and if I say I'll fight you, I'll fight you. "I'll knock Pianeta into next week, I'll knock you spark out too".

Frank Warren, Fury's promoter, had earlier confirmed his intention to seal a date with Wilder. Hopefully he will come through it well, but reports from the gym are that he's looking well.

"If Tyson Fury lived the life, if he was a clean eater, if he wasn't doing all the other things he's been doing in his life I could give him a shot at mixing with the best".

The former unified world champion faces Francesco Pianeta in Belfast next month and has revealed his team are already at the advanced stages of agreeing a deal for him to take on Wilder later this year. "He's in a good place at the moment both physically and mentally".

Wilder had been a possible opponent for Anthony Joshua, but the British boxing star announced that he will defend his IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO belts against Alexander Povetkin on 22 September at London's Wembley Stadium. The Brits are running away scared and there's only me who's saying, 'Right, I'll have to fight him'.
