Parents Are Now Hiring "Fortnite" Coaches For Their Kids

Parents Are Now Hiring

In the kids. The kids want to play it, the kids want to be good at it, the kids want to be the best MUM BUY ME LESSONS OTHERWISE I SHALL SCREECH. Now with the rise of eSports, parents have resorted to hiring video game coaches with Fortnite being a hot ticket at $35 per hour to train.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) spoke to several families who have hired coaches specialising in the online game's survivalist Battle Royale function - where around 100 players compete in a fight to the death, with just one victor.

A new report from The Wall Street Journal profiled several parents who paid hourly rates to get their children lessons with Fortnite tutors, who promised to improve their skills.

"There's pressure not to just play it but to be really good at it", said one mother who recently paid for her 10-year-old to receive private lessons in the free-to-play shooter game so he could keep up with other kids at school.

Fortnite has taken the world by storm since it was released in 2017 - and now boasts over 125million players worldwide. "Now he'll throw down 10 to 20 wins", Mennen said.

Sometimes they can have 20, 30, 40 young people in the business playing Fortnite all at one time with different people around the world. Some of those parents are hoping that their kids will turn their hobbies into lucrative e-sports careers, a college scholarship - or, at least, a slice of "Fortnite" developer Epic Games' $US100 million competitive prize pool.

Coaches can be found through social media or through contracting sites, according to the article. When you think of hiring a tutor, the first thing that probably comes to mind is going to school school and getting an education.

"I want them to excel at what they enjoy", Euan Robertson told The Wall Street Journal. Until now, usually "adult hobbyists and older teenagers aspiring to go professional" sought the help of the coaches.
