Elderly metalheads escape nursing home to attend Wacken Open Air

Elderly metalheads escape nursing home to attend Wacken Open Air”

Two elderly men ditched their nursing home in Germany on Friday, and ended up at what's widely considered the world's largest heavy metal festival.

After the nursing home alerted police to the men's disappearance, they were discovered at 3AM on the festival grounds as the final performers were winding down. Once located, they were reportedly reluctant to leave, but were eventually escorted from the festival in taxi and patrol vehicles.

Police told the news service the men were "disoriented and dazed", when found.

The festival, sometimes called the "the Metal Mecca", takes place each year in the small town of Wacken in Germany.

The festival was sold out and around 75,000 people are believed to have attended between 1-4 August.

We don't know the names of these absolute LADs and haven't seen them but we can just imagine them rocking out with a zimmer frame covered in mud watching the likes of Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Wacken is one of the biggest heavy metal festivals in the world, and it's clear these two blokes weren't gonna let age, security or basic walls stop them from missing out on the fun.

Seriously, can you blame them for living after midnight at a massive four-day fest that boasted a lineup that included the likes of Judas Priest, Ghost, Danzig, Behemoth and more?

Police praised festival-goers for good behaviour and said they had only been needed in relation to a few minor drug seizures.
