NASCAR CEO Allegedly Had BAC Over 0.18 When Stopped”

NASCAR CEO and Chairman Brian France was arrested for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and Criminal Possession of a Controlled substance Sunday night, according to a Sag Harbor Village Police Department news release.

France, 55, was stopped in Sag Harbor after he failed to stop at a posted stop sign, police said in a news release Monday.

We're told France's blood alcohol level was more than TWICE the legal limit.

France was released on his own recognizance at 9:30 a.m. Monday morning after his arraignment in the Harbor Village Justice Court. Police then found oxycodone pills on his person.

The police report goes on to reveal that once France was arrested, the officer searched France's vehicle, and found oxycodone, a controlled substance, in the auto.

ESPN published this statement from NASCAR: "We are aware of an incident that occurred last night and are in the process of gathering information".

France publicly endorsed Trump for president in early 2016 at a rally in Georgia.

France became chairman and CEO of NASCAR in 2003, a position that makes him one of the most powerful figures in sports. He's a third-generation leader of the company, which his late grandfather, Bill France Sr., founded in 1948. He hit a tree in 2006, also while driving a Lexus, and a witness said he "fell over his own feet" after he got out of the vehicle.
