YouTube deletes the Alex Jones channel

YouTube deletes the Alex Jones channel”

Facebook, YouTube, Apple, and Spotify all removed Jones's incendiary podcasts and videos for hate speech and harassment.

Some InfoWars shows, like "WarRoom" and "RealNews with David Knight" are still available on Facebook and Youtube. Spotify said it had removed all of Jones' podcast episodes due to "hate content". Facebook previously removed four specific videos for violating its policies and subjected Jones's personal page to a 30-day ban, during which he continued to post text and video through alternate pages.

The Gateway Pundit blog, which noted the convergence of tech giants banning Infowars, said it found in an analysis that Facebook has eliminated 93 percent of traffic to top conservative websites since the 2016 presidential election.

Among the conspiracy theories Jones, 44, has peddled are charges that the United States government was behind numerous terrorist attacks, including the September 11 strikes on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Neither Jones nor a representative for Infowars was available for additional comment.

"I think with Alex Jones it's the closest thing to a clear-cut case as you're ever going to get", Dockray said. The company also called Jones a "repeat offender".

The company said it does not "tolerate hate speech", adding that creators that violate its guidelines will be punished.

Apple told BuzzFeed that it had removed the entire library for five of Jones's six Infowars podcasts including the shows "War Room" and the daily "The Alex Jones Show".

In late July, YouTube issued a strike on Jones' channel after removing four of his videos, which violated its terms of service and community guidelines.

Backlash against Alex Jones grew to a new level on Monday as YouTube announced that it was terminating the far-right conspiracy theorist's channels in the wake of similar suspensions and removals by Facebook, Apple and Spotify. Jones's content was removed specifically for speech that violates the social network's community standards.

"Facebook bans Infowars. Permanently". At least, that's what his lawyer told a judge when Jones was embroiled in a custody battle with his ex-wife previous year.

Jones founded Infowars in 1999 and has gone on to gain a large following.

Jones was hit with a defamation lawsuit in April over his claim that the 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in CT ― where a shooter killed 20 small children and six adults ― was faked.

Apple pointed Business Insider to the statement it provided BuzzFeed, in which it said that it notified Jones of its plans to pull the podcasts under its hate speech guidelines.

The complaint notes "The Alex Jones Show" is broadcast on more than 60 radio stations and his YouTube channel has more than 2.3 million subscribers.

"We believe in representing a wide range of views, so long as people are respectful to those with differing opinions", an Apple spokesperson said.
