Bethesda Nixes Steam in Favor of Its Own Launcher - Fallout 76

Bethesda Nixes Steam in Favor of Its Own Launcher - Fallout 76”

Bethesda just offered a bit more incentive for players to try out Fallout 76's B.E.T.A. this October.

Another interesting note in the beta FAQ is that if all goes according to plan the beta version will actually be the full game, and any progress you make in it will carry over into the release version.

It was previously announced that expansion DLC for the game will be free, but there will be paid cosmetic items.

Described as "more like an early access experience" than a standard beta, Bethesda sees throwing "the floodgates" open to "all possibilities" the best way to deal with potential bugs ahead of the game's launch.

We're not totally sure of the scale of Fallout 76 outside of its very large and detailed map but hopefully, this is a sign of a really ambitious and meaty game otherwise, Bethesda risks showing all their cards significantly early. While these instances could suggest that Fallout 76 will come to Valve's service in time, Bethesda never indicated that this would happen. Pay attention, however, and you'll realise Bethesda has been trying to do this for years. Fallout Shelter, for example, did not initially launch on Steam. Now we have the official confirmation, which is good to know for those that are looking to take to the Wasteland on the PC platform versus the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The news comes after it was previously revealed how Bethesda will pick players eligible for the Fallout 76 beta.
