Tottenham way off in valuation of Aston Villa's Jack Grealish - Steve Bruce

Tottenham way off in valuation of Aston Villa's Jack Grealish - Steve Bruce”

According to Villa boss Steve Bruce, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has offered nowhere near enough to tempt Villa into selling midfielder Grealish, 22.

"We all know what football is, but at the moment Spurs haven't got anywhere near what the owners want to consider".

He said: "The owners are aware that every player has got his price".

"We don't want to lose our best players". The good thing they have been able to do is not let anybody go on the cheap.

"So there is not a discussion to be had at the moment, because they've got nowhere near the figure they demanded".

The transfer saga has been rumbling for much of the summer as Tottenham had hoped to take advantage of Villa's previously perilous financial position by signing Grealish in a cut-price deal.

Tottenham are yet to make a single signing in the summer transfer window and the deadline is just around the corner on Thursday.

But both have struggled with injury in recent years and speaking about Moreira's signing on Friday, Bruce said: "It was an area we needed to address".

Pochettino has a proven record when it comes to bringing talented players through and the manager recognises the need to strengthen his midfield as Winks and Victor Wanyama have struggled with injuries during pre-season, while the futures of Mousa Dembele and Moussa Sissoko remain uncertain.

Grealish is a product of the Villa academy and was part of the team that lost in the Championship play-off final last season.

Ex-Spurs ace Crouch insists that it could be a smart move for Grealish to make the step up to the top flight.

Villa must find around £40million to adhere to FFP regulations but Bruce said they would find a way to resolve it if they did not sell Grealish, who could still play in Monday's Sky Bet Championship opener at Hull.
