Kevin De Bruyne suffers knee injury in training”

According to the Daily Mirror, De Bruyne sustained a knee injury on Wednesday in training during an outdoor session.

Man City have confirmed on their official website that De Bruyne is undergoing tests on a knee injury and are waiting for more updates.

A selection of Liverpool fans on social media are thrilled that Man City are set for a spell without their talisman and believe it could boost their own title bid.

In 2016, De Bruyne missed out on 12 games after suffering an injury in the League Cup against Everton.

De Bruyne was once again expected to see his stock rise this term as City look to secure back-to-back league titles for the first time in the club's history.

A similar recovery time this time round would see the Belgium global ruled out until at least November, but with the severity of the injury unknown, City manager Pep Guardiola will be left sweating over the results of his medical examinations.

The Belgium global featured as a second-half substitute in the league campaign-opening win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last Sunday.

Although perhaps none are as influential as De Bruyne, the likes of Bernardo Silva, Leroy Sane and Ilkay Gundogan would very likely be starters in any other Premier League side.

Bernardo Silva started and scored in the win against Arsenal and the Portugal worldwide could remain a starter in De Bruyne's absence.
