Anthony Martial prepared to play waiting game to stay at Manchester United

Anthony Martial prepared to play waiting game to stay at Manchester United”

The France World Cup victor questioned whether United had the correct attitude after last weekend's 3-2 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion, saying the Seagulls "prepared very well, maybe much better than us".

Jose Mourinho admits "nobody is happy" at Manchester United following last Sunday's 3-2 loss at Brighton and has warned similar mistakes would cost them against Tottenham. There, he was asked whether he had any problems with Ed Woodward, the coach responded of course and simply stated "NO". "By one side I would say yes but, on another side, I would say we need time to work and some time to try to recover some players from injury, so it was not bad for us".

After a disappointing start to the season, Mourinho said he and his players are itching to set the record straight.

The United boss also refused to expand on Paul Pogba's comments following the defeat at Brighton when he said that his attitude was not "right."

"You have to play against 19 opponents at Old Trafford and away, you have to play against everyone, I don't know if it's the right time".

"And I think when a player goes on loan, he does so to play in his best position".

Mauricio Pochettino's response to not signing a single player in the transfer window and delays over the club's move to a new stadium have been a lesson in diplomacy for Mourinho.

Manchester United will be hoping they bounce back from their shocking defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion when they take on Pochettino's Tottenham Hotspur, who are seemingly high on confidence.

United and Spurs will meet at Old Trafford on Monday evening before Mourinho and his side travel to Burnley and Watford in their following two fixtures.

United forward Alexis Sanchez, defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic and captain Antonio Valencia could all bolster Mourinho's squad for the visit of Spurs.
