College Announces It Is Dropping Nike Gear After Colin Kaepernick Decision

College Announces It Is Dropping Nike Gear After Colin Kaepernick Decision”

"In their new ad campaign, we believe Nike executives are promoting an attitude of division and disrespect toward America", College of the Ozarks President Jerry C. Davis said in a statement. The company's stock dropped a little more than 3 percent on Tuesday following the ad's release, and the decision to feature Kaepernick sparked protests among some customers who posted videos and photos of them destroying their Nike products to social media.

One of the biggest stories over the last week, at least in the sports word, has been Nike's endorsement of former NFL Quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Nike took a risk this week with its new ad narrated by Colin Kaepernick, and the reaction in the immediate aftermath has been decidedly mixed, with somewhat conflicting messages about how it might affect the brand in the long run. "If they laugh at what you think you can do", he begins.

Even President Donald Trump weighed in.

New England Patriots stars Devin McCourty and Duron Harmon have spoken up in defence of Nike following their controversial Colin Kaepernick advert.

"So we've had guys "do it" through sports, but Kaepernick is a guy doing it right now, so I think it's a great pairing with Nike and him".

Kaeperick, who is the face of Nike's 30th anniversary of the "Just Do It" campaign, said that he was protesting to shed light on racial equaility and police brutality. He adamantly disagrees with Nike's decision, as Breitbart reported. Activism can show consumers that companies care about more than profits, but as conservatives' reaction to Nike shows, taking a stand can be risky.

The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback voices the ad, which calls for individuals to follow their dreams and ignore naysayers, according to ESPN and other news outlets. The school even went so far as to say that it would forfeit any competition if a player from the opposing team refused to stand for the anthem.

The president drew a connection between the National Football League and Nike.

"I mean, it's incredible that you see that there are some people out there who really support what he stands for and what he's doing".
