Plane with sick passengers quarantined at JFK

Plane with sick passengers quarantined at JFK”

"Passengers who are not ill will be allowed to continue with their travel plans, and if necessary will be followed up with by health officials".

It comes one day after an Emirates Airlines plane was held at the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City when a number of passengers fell ill.

The CDC, Philadelphia Health Department and the Philadelphia Fire Department personnel performed medical evaluations on the passengers.

Phillips said earlier the flight had stopped in Mecca, which is experiencing a flu outbreak.

An airport source told Fox 5 News that a medical emergency happened on the plane.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that initially about 100 people including some crew had complained of illness.

NY media outlets had initially put the number of ill passengers at about 100.

Numerous healthy passengers described hearing fellow travelers violently coughing during the flight.

Shortly before 10:30 a.m., Emirates Airlines said in a statement via its official Twitter account that only 10 passengers from Dubai had fallen ill.

Flight 717 from Munich Airport and Flight 755 from Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris both arrived in Philadelphia on Thursday afternoon, she said.

Pictures posted on social media showed ambulances lined up on the tarmac next to the A380, the largest passenger airline in the world. They had their temperatures taken on the tarmac and were then transported by bus to the airport terminal, where they made their way through customs.

Passenger Larry Coben said CDC staff came onto the plane, and that everyone aboard was asked to fill out a passenger locator form, providing their contact information for the next three weeks.

Not exactly the luxurious flight Emirates promises in its commercials.
