Razer Phone 2 leaked specs suggest small hardware upgrade

Razer Phone 2 leaked specs suggest small hardware upgrade”

Razer angled its first-generation smartphone as the flawless gaming machine with its 5.7-inch 1440p LCD pushing 120Hz. Rumours quickly started floating about that claimed Razer would be using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC in the handset, however, the Razer Phone 2 has now appeared on popular benchmarking tool Geekbench and the smartphone comes loaded with a Snapdragon 845 processor.

With an 1.77GHz octa-core Qualcomm chipset - likely the Snapdragon 845 - the phone scored 2026 on its single-core run, and 8234 on its multi-core run. Razer recently confirmed its working on a Razer Phone 2, and a new Geekbench entry purportedly tips the phone's core specs and performance.

It's true that some believe the "gaming smartphone" trend is just a farce used by some companies to better sell their products, but it looks like Razer isn't bothered by that fact at all. It's expected that the Razer Phone 2 will similarly focus on its gaming elements, however it is now unknown whether it will adopt OLED display technology similar to other flagships.

That apart, the phone when launched ran Android 7.1 Nougat with Nova Launcher Prime Razer Edition app launcher running on top. So why are we bringing attention to a discount on the Razer Phone?

For comparison's sake, the first generation Razor Phone came powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset that worked in conjugation with a 8 GB RAM. The phone also dynamically adjusts its refresh rate based on what you're doing, so it doesn't burn through precious battery life if you're not doing something that would benefit from the added smoothness. Furthermore, AnTuTu also reveals that the Razer Phone 2 has a screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.

It's not clear when the Razer Phone 2 is slated to launch.
