CBS CEO Les Moonves Accused of Sex Crimes, Violence By More Women”

The head of USA media giant CBS, Les Moonves, has resigned with immediate effect after allegations of sexual misconduct.

CBS chief Les Moonves will imminently leave his post as chairman and CEO of the media giant, per CNN.

The donation, which will be made immediately, will come out of any severance that Moonves might eventually be given.

The company did not rule out the possibility of Moonves receiving future benefits, stating that such a payment "will depend on the results of the independent investigation and subsequent Board investigation". The news made headlines, and CBS promised to investigate the allegations, but since then there's been radio silence from the network as Moonves quietly continues on as CEO (he is now negotiating his exit from the company). It is unclear when he first knew that he had to go.

CBS announced Moonves' departure, which takes effect immediately, early Sunday evening.

Sunday's report from Farrow also includes a new allegation against Fager. Other women alleged he forcibly kissed and touched them in the workplace and, in some cases, retaliated against them professionally for rejecting his advances. Two law firms, Covington & Burling and Debevoise & Plimpton, have been hired to conduct an independent investigation into the allegations.

The six women in the latest piece allege sexual harassment or assault by Mr Moonves between the 1980s and the first decade of this century.

The New Yorker said Moonves had, in a statement, acknowledged three of the encounters but said they were consensual and occurred "before I came to CBS". Six more women have come forward to accuse Moonves of forcible sexual assaults. Golden-Gottlieb tells The New Yorker's Ronan Farrow "that she filed a criminal complaint late a year ago with the Los Angeles Police Department, accusing Moonves of physically restraining her and forcing her to perform oral sex on him, and of exposing himself to her and violently throwing her against a wall in later incidents". The Time's Up advocacy group issued a statement on Thursday blasting CBS for considering such a sum in light of the allegations. She wrote years after, when she chose to leave Hollywood for the rough and tumble classrooms of LA, "As an executive in the entertainment industry in the days when women were few and not particularly endeared by the powerful, I learned to be strong and tough". "In the last week, as we reached out to CBS for comment", stories emerged about exit talks, Farrow said.

As part of the agreement announced Sunday, Redstone agreed that the company would not pursue a combination of CBS and Viacom for at least two years.

CBS said on Sunday it takes such allegations very seriously.

The company was silent on the terms of a possible settlement with Moonves, who had been negotiating a $100 million exit package.

"Six more women have made bone-chilling allegations of abuse, harassment and retaliation against Les Moonves", according to the Time's Up statement.

A former senior CBS official told FOX Business in July, just after Farrow's first article about the allegations was published, that Mooves was likely to be replaced due to the seriousness of the accusations, but noted that internal candidates are "weak". "And I have never used my position to hinder the advancement or careers of women", Moonves told the outlet in a statement.

Untrue allegations from decades ago are now being made against me that are not consistent with who I am.
