President Donald Trump issues warning as Hurricane Florence advances”

State of Emergency has been declared by North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

Carrying winds of up to 140 miles per hour as a Category 4 storm, Hurricane Florence is expected to strengthen and become a Category 5 storm Tuesday.

"To the incredible citizens of North Carolina, South Carolina and the entire East Coast - the storm looks very bad!"

"We do not want to risk one SC life in this hurricane", the governor told a press conference.

"Please be prepared, be careful and be SAFE!"

Storm Surge and hurricane watches are likely be issued for the Carolina coast - including Southeastern N.C. - on Tuesday.

As of noon Tuesday, the storm was about 1,230 miles southeast of the Cape Fear region, according to the National Weather Service.

"Where should residents of "Zone A" evacuate to?"

Off the state's coast, large sea swells and risky rip currents were already apparent over the weekend, foreshadowing the storm's arrival.

"A few moments later, #Isaac & the outer bands of #Helene were also visible, "Arnold tweeted, referring to two other hurricanes swirling to the east of Hurricane Florence".

Hugo in 1989 was the last major hurricane to hit the SC coast.

Large swells generated by Florence are already affecting Bermuda and portions of the East Coast and will continue this week, the hurricane center said. That stalled system set record rainfall amounts in many areas.

And the timing couldn't be more apt: Monday is the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season, when storm activity is historically at its highest.

With little wind to pull the storm apart, Florence's hurricane wind field is expected to expand over coming days, increasing its storm surge and inland wind threats. "On the forecast track, the center of Florence will move over the southwestern Atlantic Ocean between Bermuda and the Bahamas Tuesday (Sept. 12) and Wednesday (Sept. 13), and approach the coast of North Carolina or SC on Thursday", according to the NHC.

A Tropical Storm WARNING is now in effect for Maui County (including the islands of Maui, Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi and Kahoʻolawe) and Hawaiʻi County.

While the storm could weaken some before making landfall, forecasters expect it could still be a Category 3 or 4.

There have been 3 hurricanes in the Atlantic at least 3 times in the last 9 years so this is not unprecedented. "This is the craziest one". "It happened past year". Roberts said he's telling them to get out of town.

Several meteorologists said Florence could do what Hurricane Harvey did previous year over Texas, dumping days of rain, although not quite as bad.

This isn't some guy on the internet sounding the alarm, this is our elected officials telling us that an incredibly unsafe hurricane is on its way, likely to the Carolinas. "Flooding is the deadliest result of these storms", he added.

"The chances of it going out to sea are extremely slim at this point", she said. And out here we're so fragile. He estimated that about 1 million people will be affected by the order, including residents and visitors.
