Harvey Weinstein caught on video harassing his rape accuser

Harvey Weinstein caught on video harassing his rape accuser”

One of the women accusing Harvey Weinstein of rape has released an unsettling video from a business meeting she once had with him.

Seventy five women have accused Weinstein of sexual assault and he has been charged in NY for sexually assaulting three women.

Melissa Thompson says she went to meet Mr Weinstein at his NY offices in 2011 as a representative for a tech start-up that was pitching online video services. She ended up in Weinstein's hotel room, where Weinstein raped her despite her attempts to get away, Thompson alleged.

The video, which only captures the two from the waist up, doesn't show Weinstein's hands at that point, but does show Thompson reacting with discomfort and telling Weinstein, "That's too high".

"It is hot, you're hot", Weinstein replies.

He was quoted by US-based entertainment magazine People however as denying sexual misconduct by his client.

Weinstein's attorney, Benjamin Brafman, tells us others have seen the full video. and it tells a different story.

Weinstein's lawyer told Sky that when the video is viewed in context, "it demonstrates that there is nothing forceful, but casual, if not awkward, flirting from both parties".

As she goes to shake his hand, Weinstein instead gives Thompson, then 28, a hug, caressing her back. "Let's keep it up". "His eyes became dark", she said.

At one point he tells her: "Let me have a little part of you".

"Now I see he's trying, in any way he can, to move me into that zone of comfortable then uncomfortable and confused, and vulnerable, and recognising that he's powerful and I'm not, and that I need this deal from him, and he has the power to give it to me". "It's okay, would you like to do it some more?" "A little high. That's a little high".

Several actresses and models accused Weinstein of criminal sexual assaults.

He is out on bail and has pleaded not guilty in NY to six counts allegedly committed against three women in 2004, 2006 and 2013.

Out on $1 million bail after having plead not guilty to the first round of indictment and having surrendered his passport earlier this summer, Weinstein is set to be back in Justice Burke's Manhattan courtroom on September 20.

Although it is unclear what he is doing on camera, Ms Thompson told Sky News he had run his hand up her leg under her dress and that she had not "purposely encouraged him".

The video was taken as part of a demo for a video platform that her start-up company was offering.

In the footage, Weinstein invites Thompson to join him at the Tribeca Grand Hotel lobby restaurant. Sky News also reports that he locked the door at this time. Instead, he brought her to a hotel room where he allegedly raped her.

After the meeting, she says, Weinstein arranged to meet her a few hours later at a hotel lobby, where she thought they were going to close the deal, according to Sky News.

"If he would make a comment, I would try to catch it and return it in a way that felt a little safer than the way he threw it at me. He corned me, over and over again". Thompson is a major player in the class action lawsuit against the fallen producer.
