OnePlus wants to release its own TV in 2019”

Exactly what TVs OnePlus will bring to the market is unclear, and when they might appear on the market is also unknown. However, it also has a background in producing Blu-ray players, it says here, and now OnePlus Founder, CEO and Supreme Guru Pete Lau has announced its making a play for the biggest prize in AV: a place in the T3 list of best smart TVs.

Currently, there's no word on whether OnePlus will roll out its smart TV portfolio in India or not. For this, the company is building a new product with OnePlus' "premium flagship design, image quality and audio experience to more seamlessly connect the home": the OnePlus TV. Since the OnePlus TV is still in the early stages of development, OnePlus hasn't provided any specific details.

Lau says that OnePlus is taking its "first steps" towards building a Smart TV, which it calls as "OnePlus TV".

At present, it's unknown whether the manufacturer plans to release the OnePlus TV outside of its native China, though it's probably safe to assume that it'll be sold in same territories where the company now sells its phones.

The OnePlus founder also feels that the current market of TVs haven't integrated the Internet into the experience well, and the market is "still feeling quite traditional in their functionality and experience". That's definitely one way the smart TV industry could change.

According to the CEO, they plan to reshape the experience of home entertainment with the help of intelligent connectivity features on the OnePlus Smart TV.

This could very well be just another Android TV product, integrating Google Assistant that works with all your smart home devices like any other Android TV product.

For nearly five years, the only products sold by OnePlus were its well-regarded line of affordable, high-end smartphones, and the accessories that go with them. This means being able to beam photos and home videos to the TV without needing an app or third-party service.

There's also a good chance this new TV will be competitively priced. The home is perhaps the most important environment experience for every user out there and it's just starting to enjoy the benefits of intelligent connectivity.

OnePlus made a name for itself in the smartphone space by shipping high-end, quality smartphones at a low price.

Lau rebuffed questions about hard delivery dates for the new TV, as well as where it will be first released.

Beneath Pete Lau's statement, there's a link to another post on the OnePlus forum from a TV Product Manager going by the tag of '@Stephen L.'.
