Brown doesn't want trade from Steelers

Brown doesn't want trade from Steelers”

Wide receiver Antonio Brown was a no-show on Monday, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

Tomlin declined to say whether Brown's absence was excused, though in the past Tomlin has typically offered an explanation when a player is out.

Head coach Mike Tomlin walked to the podium to address the media on Tuesday, where he refused to state the reasoning for Brown's absence and whether it was excused or not.

Pittsburgh is 0-1-1 this season after a disappointing season-opening tie to the Browns and then a 42-37 loss to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs on Sunday.

Every player, however, has not regularly forced the Steelers to either reprimand him - Brown drew a strong rebuke from Tomlin after livestreaming a locker room celebration following a playoff victory over Kansas City in 2017 - or issue an apology, as the club did last week when Brown threatened an ESPN reporter on Twitter for the way he was portrayed in a story. And now two weeks into the season, things appear to have gotten a bit more hectic for the Steelers. I understand all that. I just don't believe it's appropriate. During the game, Brown was spotted looking frustrated on the sideline.

Things that make you go hmmmm.

Tomlin said he won't comment directly on player happenings on social media, which features "gray area" and "very little accountability", but he made clear players should be held to a higher standard.

"We will talk about it and other things", Tomlin said.

"I understand sometimes you got some negativity, you know, we lost a football game", Tomlin said. "That's just how I choose to approach it". That's frustration associated with not playing well and not winning. "There are opportunities for us to respond to it, particularly in the early portions of the year, to utilize negative experiences that occur to educate our team at this point in the journey so it becomes a non-factor as we move forward". That's generally the approach we take in non-football things, such as social media, decorum, etc., and so hopefully this will be the last time I'll be discussing things such as that in this setting.
