FEMA Administrator Uses Spousal Abuse to Dispute Puerto Rico Death Toll”

Trump caused outrage this week when he said without any evidence the 3,000 death toll was a move by Democrats to make him look "as bad as possible".

According to the independent analysis by researchers at George Washington University's Milken Institute School of Public Health, an estimated 2,975 more deaths than normal were recorded on the island from September 2017 to February 2018. 'As time went by it did not go up by much.

Meanwhile, Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New Castle hammered Trump in a press statement on Thursday, as reported here by Daily Voice, promising to see him in court in a lawsuit filed by Puerto Ricans displaced to NY by Hurricane Maria. A study by Harvard University released in May estimated that Maria was responsible for the deaths of more than 4,600 people. His comments received widespread backlash from leaders in Puerto Rico and on Capitol Hill.

Former Trump campaign adviser Sam Nunberg said that Trump merely wants to counter allegations thrown at him - such as the increased death toll in Puerto Rico, along with the implication that it's his fault. It was based on a survey of 3,299 random households.

"It's hard to tell what's accurate and what's not", Long said in an appearance on Fox News Sunday.

An independent study by researchers at George Washington University commissioned by the Puerto Rican government estimated almost 3,000 people died because of the storm, a figure the president has disputed. The other two studies, like ours, used death certificates.

"There's a big discrepancy, whether it's direct deaths or indirect deaths".

The Harvard study stated the primary cause of high mortality rates in the months post-hurricane was due to interruption to medical care. Many factors - disruption in transportation, access to food, water, medications, power and other essentials - may have contributed. No one administration or political party is responsible for why we still don't prioritize preparedness even though we are increasingly threatened by large hurricanes. A 2016 study (pdf) found the "generation and transmission infrastructure literally falling apart".

FEMA organized the major workforce for fixing the grid, having over 2,000 Army Corps of Engineers personnel working on the repairs.

"He's very supportive, which is exactly what FEMA needs", he added, noting that Trump has held a pair of Cabinet meetings at FEMA headquarters. "They die in auto crashes because they, they went through an intersection where the stoplights weren't working", he said.

"I think we're at a point in time where social media has become the medium for getting out a message quickly and appropriately", said Matt Anthes, CEO of SociallyMined, a data company that helps companies use social media platforms.
