Trump doesn't think the Federal Bureau of Investigation should get involved in Kavanaugh allegation

Trump doesn't think the Federal Bureau of Investigation should get involved in Kavanaugh allegation”

"We want to give everybody a chance to say what they have to say", Trump said. We're talking about a lifetime appointment.

Speaking from the East Room of the White House, Trump knocked Democratic Sen. The Justice Department seems to agree. Grassley said on conservative commentator Hugh Hewitt's radio show.

Maura Fitzgerald, who dated Kavanaugh in college, said she and Kavanaugh have been good friends since high school. "The FBI is not doing any further investigation".

Over 200 women who attended the same school as Brett Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford, including actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus, have signed a letter in her support. She sent a letter to her congresswoman, Rep. Anna Eshoo, in July, which made its way to Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.). After initially guarding her anonymity, Ford "decided to take control of this and tell this in her own voice" after the allegations were leaked, her lawyer said. When she went to use the bathroom, she claims she was pushed into a bedroom by Kavanaugh, and that he pinned her down and, laughing, tried to take off her clothes. The 53-year-old judge was there to meet with the White House legal team to prepare for potential interviews or questions from the Judiciary Committee, a source familiar with the matter said.

In a statement on Monday, Kavanaugh called the allegation by Ford, who is a college professor, "completely false".

Conway, one of the highest-ranking women in the West Wing, said she'd "spoken at length" with Trump about the allegations. "And she deserves to be heard because these are serious accusations".

If the Judiciary committee's timetable slips further, it would become increasingly hard for Republicans to schedule a vote before the November 6 elections, in which congressional control will be at stake.

Democrats said the hearing should be more like the 1991 affair involving confirmation of Justice Clarence Thomas, when more than 20 people testified about allegations he engaged in sexual harassment of former colleague Anita Hill.

He also said the FBI should be given time to reopen its background investigation into Kavanaugh so it could check Ford's assertions. On Monday, two women who dated Kavanaugh - and knew him in high school - joined the 200 other women who defended the judge's high moral character.

"That's what you have hearings for", he said. I believe that if Kavanaugh did actually force himself on Ford, he should be barred from sitting on the highest court in the land.

Ford went public after Feinstein released a statement to the media last week saying she had forwarded information about Kavanaugh to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Ford's attorney, Debra Katz, said Monday morning on cable television that her client was willing to do so as well. "We want to make sure everything is flawless". Now 51, Ford says she still deals with anxiety and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder due to the alleged incident.

"I thought he might inadvertently kill me", she said. "In the meantime, I hope Ms. Blasey Ford receives the respect and dignity to which she is entitled".

Grassley also couldn't answer whether each senator will get one or two rounds of questions. But Democratic staff declined to be part of the call, a committee spokesman said.

Republicans were perceived as too harsh in their questioning of Hill.

"You're raising legitimate questions that are still on our mind", Grassley said, "and so these details are still being worked out".

Many Republicans see the move as a way to delay or block his confirmation.

Kavanaugh has forcefully denied the allegations and told a senator that he was not present at the party where the alleged assault occurred.

A senior White House official on Monday said the bombshell accusation of sexual assault against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was a political attempt to "torpedo" the judge's confirmation. "A lot of people in the Senate weren't going to vote for him anyway".
