The Weather Channel is standing by its man

The Weather Channel is standing by its man”

The Weather Channel responded to criticism saying that exhaustion and slippery conditions made it hard for their reporter to stand.

As Tropical Storm Florence swirled over the Carolinas on Friday, a Weather Channel reporter's attempt to capture the wind's fury has since gone viral.

Though there's nothing unusual about a reporter doing their job in the middle of a turbulent weather, Mike Seidel's struggle looked a little far-fetched when two other young men entered the frame and casually walked by in the background.

Twitter user, @gourdnibler recorded the footage and posted it to Twitter with the caption.

The video has been shared more than a million times on social media.

"So dramatic! Dude from the weather channel bracing for his life, as 2 dudes just stroll past", he tweeted.

But CNN quickly rushed to the defense of Seidel, who has been the Weather Channel's meteorologist and field reporter for more than two decades, saying "exhaustion" and the surface he was standing on were responsible for his stance.

That's Seidel bracing himself to stand has the high winds from Hurricane Florence whipped ashore in Wilmington, N.C.

Thousands of comments of "fake news" and the likes followed for days but it appears mere comments were not enough to ridicule the Weather Channel.

Meteorologists warned the Carolinas that Hurricane Florence might be the "storm of the century", inundating the southeast coastline with catastrophic wind and "biblical" flooding. But the camera also caught two people in the background, walking by with absolutely no problem.
