Meghan Markle Hosts First Palace Event With Her Mom by Her Side

Meghan Markle Hosts First Palace Event With Her Mom by Her Side”

Speaking about it, the Duchess, who donned an apron to muck in with fellow volunteers on her visits, said she "immediately felt connected" to the kitchen, which she described as a "place for women to laugh, cry, grieve and cook together".

"I felt, on a personal level, so proud to live in a city that can have so much diversity".

Meghan has been the driving force behind the book, suggesting the idea to a group of women who came together to cook at a Muslim cultural centre in North Kensington in the aftermath of the Grenfell blaze.

Doria Ragland's last memorable appearance was on the steps of St George's Chapel following the royal wedding in May, watching her daughter begin her new life as a member of the monarchy.

As part of her first solo project since becoming a duchess, she thought the book could help fund the kitchen opening more than just two days a week.

Meghan appeared to be happy with her husband's efforts, and giggled along with everyone else.

According to Daily Mail correspondent Rebecca English, Ragland introduced herself to guests at the event as "Meg's mom".

This is the first time she has visited the United Kingdom since her daughter's wedding in May, and the first time the two have been seen together since the big day.

The duchess was wearing a striking petrol blue long coat by one of her favourite Canadian brands, Smythe - which sold out within minutes - with a pleated midi skirt by her friend Misha Nonoo, a high neck bodysuit by Tuxe and black suede Sarah Flint heels.

Dishes featured in the book include coconut chicken curry, aubergine masala and caramelised plum cake. After the tragedy, they started gathering in order to prepare food for the community and ended up healing together in the process of sharing recipes and experiences. "When we get to know the story of the recipe, you get to know the person behind it".

Her Royal Highness first visited the kitchen in January 2018 on a private visit and had made many more visits since.

In a sweet moment, one of the chefs set aside a plate of food for the Duke and Duchess, to which Meghan kindly responded: "Oh thank you, I'll take that home and have it for dinner".
