Reality show doc, girlfriend deny drugging and raping women”

Dr Grant William Robicheaux billed himself as an elite orthopaedic surgeon catering to the famous and wealthy in the U.S. state of California.

Before Grant William Robicheaux was accused of rape, he charmed audiences on a reality TV dating show, lamenting how hard it was for a busy surgeon like him to meet the right woman.

A Southern California orthopedic surgeon who appeared on a reality television show and his friend have been charged with drugging and sexually assaulting at least two women.

At a news conference Tuesday, Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas said the pair is accused of picking up the women at bars or parties, drugging them to the point that the women became unconscious or almost unconscious, then raping them at Robicheaux's apartment.

A second woman allegedly drank with them at a bar in Newport Beach on October 2, 2016 before they took her to Robicheaux's apartment and "sexually [assaulted] her with intent to commit rape".

Monsters and Critics has reached out to Bravo for comment.

A Hoag Hospital profile describes him as an orthopaedic surgeon who received his medical degree from Louisiana State University and did his residency at University of California, Irvine Medical Center.

Numerous victims may not have known that they were sexually assaulted because they were unconscious.

Disturbing videos and photos found on Robicheaux's phone suggests that there could be as many as a thousand victims who were drugged and assaulted by the defendants.

Attorneys Scott Borthwick and Philip Cohen issued a statement on behalf of Riley and Robicheaux denying the allegations of nonconsensual sex.

At this point, none of the victims are believed to be his patients, but the D.A.'s office carefully laid out the places Robicheaux has traveled over the past several years in hopes of jogging the memories of others who may have been victims too. The incident was recorded on video, Rackauckas said.

Those videos were recovered this year by Newport Beach detectives.

The couple has been charged with rape by drugs, oral copulation by anesthesia and assault with intent to commit sexual offences, among other things.

The district attorney's office said she woke up and screamed for help until a neighbor called police to the scene. "And then (Cerissa) introduces her to Robicheaux and they invite her to a party".

Afterward, they drugged and raped the woman, the district attorney said.

In 2014, Robicheaux appeared on an episode of Bravo's "Online Dating Rituals of the American Male".

Numerous women appear "past the point of consent", the district attorney said, with some appearing "to be intoxicated to the point of unconsciousness or near unconsciousness".

Robicheaux faces 40 years in prison if convicted as charged, while Riley faces 30 years and eight months, officials said.

Detailing the crimes they have been charged with, prosecutors say the couple met a woman in a Newport Beach restaurant in April 2016.

Once intoxicated, the 32-year-old was allegedly taken back to Mr Robicheaux's apartment and raped.

A search of the Robicheaxu's home found illegal drugs, including the date rape drug GHB, Rackauckas said.

Newport Beach police didn't submit the cases to the OCDA until September 6, however. The next morning, detectives arrested the couple.

At this time, Orange County investigators are asking people to come forward if they believe they may have been a victim of Grant Robicheaux and Cerissa Riley.
