Samsung might launch its first quad-camera phone on October 11”

Samsung is in a bit of a launch spree this week. Do stay tuned to as we'll be there on hand at the aforementioned Samsung Malaysia 4x Fun event to see if it could indeed be the triple rear camera Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018). Currently, the only other major Android OEM with a triple camera is the Huawei P20 Pro.

DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT and Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics who was in India last month, had said the company is refreshing its mid-price segment smartphones with flagship premium features for the upcoming festive quarter. The mid camera appears to integrate a telephoto lens, but Samsung could have done a better job when it chose the camera setup placement.

There's also a 24MP camera around the front of the Galaxy A7 which comes kitted out with an adjustable LED flash, Pro Lighting Mode and support for AR emoji, because of course. The camera also features Samsung's intelligent Scene optimiser, like the Galaxy Note9, which will automatically categorize subjects as well as adjust the colour, contrast, and brightness to optimise image quality. No specs are known yet, but despite this being the first time Samsung will have put a quad-lens camera on a phone we'd expect this to be a mid-range handset, as the "A" series has always been mid-range. They feature the same 6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display and the Exynos 7885 Octa 2.2GHz processor.

Interestingly, the Galaxy A7 has a fingerprint sensor mounted on the side - much like Sony's implementation - with an indent located underneath the volume buttons on the right of the device.

Samsung says the Galaxy A7 will be available in select European and Asian markets from this autumn in blue, black, gold and pink. The Galaxy A7 also supports Dolby Atmos to offer an immersive sound experience. Samsung is offering three memory and storage configurations - 4GB + 64GB, 4GB + 128GB and 6GB + 128GB.
