LG unveils five camera smartphone V40 ThinQ

LG unveils five camera smartphone V40 ThinQ”

But V40's camera module is unique.

Why have two, three, or four cameras on your smartphone when you can have five?

LG is always looking to innovate the smartphone industry, but no one expected that 2018 would be the year when LG launches the world's first smartphone that features a five-camera setup. This means that each camera produces a different picture, of varying size and quality. Android Authority was able to try out this new feature and said that it worked "very well". The primary camera setup has a 2MP sensor with 1.4µm pixels with an f/1.5 aperture with dual-pixel autofocus technology.

How it performs is something that we're really excited to see in person but LG has also been improving the software side of their cameras. There's a ton of magic that you can pull off with this combination, including truly wide angle shots, 2x zoomed photos, and moving photos and videos that all three sensors at once.

To make most of the use of the triple camera feature, LG has taken to introduce the Triple Shot feature.

Its main feature became a triple major and double front-facing camera, reports "New time" with reference to PCWorld.

If you're feeling the need for speed, LG's also taken care of business there. Interestingly, it also saves a GIF transition between the shots along with the three individual images. There are new lighting effects, a so-called "triple-preview" mode that shows users a preview from each camera sensor (so you can pick the one you like best) and "triple-shot", which lets users snap an image with all three sensors at once.

The LG V40 ThinQ is the fourth generation of the South Korean company's end-of-year phablets, and like its predecessors, it's packed with goodies.

Just like other ThinQ products, LG's new smartphone also leverages the new Artificial Intelligence platform.

The V40 ThinQ features a 6.4-inch HDR OLED display, which is only slightly smaller than the iPhone XS Max's 6.5-inch display.

Both devices have a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and both have a 3120 x 1440 resolution.

When it comes to specs, most of these flagships will be powered by the same Snapdragon 845 chipset, including the V40 - the Mate 20 series will have even faster chips than everyone else. It is available in 6GB RAM with 64 GB of internal storage.

- Just like the LG G7 ThinQ, V40 ThinQ comes with boombox speakers. The earphones also come with DTS:X 3D surround sound support.

The device has an IP68 water and dust resistance rating and supports wireless charging. The handset will reportedly ship with Snapdragon 845 SoC, a Quad DAC, and a dedicated physical button to wake up the Google Assistant. LG is convinced the answer to that is yes, and so the LG V40 ThinQ arrives with a quintet of sensors ranging from 8- to 16-megapixels and from a 45-degree field of view through to a whopping 107-degrees. However, the LG 40 ThinQ is set to rival the Huawei smartphones after its release, and we'll find out what the smartphone is equipped with later.
