Sarri's Barkley call rewarded as Chelsea beat Southampton

Sarri's Barkley call rewarded as Chelsea beat Southampton”

The win took Chelsea temporarily top of the Premier League, but the worst place they can enter the worldwide break is second following Liverpool and Manchester City's encounter at Anfield. "He will become a very important player in England and for the national team".

Chelsea will this Sunday afternoon take on Southampton in the Premier League fixture at St Mary's Stadium.

Hazard does think, though, it's too early for title talk. Olivier Giroud was fouled inside the area, but only a corner kick was awarded.

Regardless of what would happen at Anfield later in the day, Chelsea ensured they would be the day's big winners with victory here.

City are ahead, due to a superior goal difference, while Liverpool are third and the Blues are sandwiched between the two sides.

Next up, Chelsea host Manchester United at the Stamford Bridge after the worldwide break.

The 24-year-old impressed at the heart of Chelsea's midfield, linking well with Jorginho and Hazard as the home side completed their ninth win in 11 games across all competitions this season.

"We are enjoying playing well and scoring goals, The first half was not so easy".

His new manager has declared him to be the "best in Europe" and Chelsea fans, who've always been fond of him, have been similarly glowing in their praise on social media.

With Southampton working so hard to keep the Chelsea attack out, concentration was key - and Hoedt had two lapses in the first half. Anticipated opportunities to win the ball and made some telling passes including a slide-rule assist for Hazard to score before going one better and rippling Southampton's net himself for his first Blues goal. The Netherlands global escaped punishment for his challenge on Giroud in the area but then saw Hazard capitalise on some lazy defending as he stepped out of defence and left Chelsea's main man all alone.

Having endured much frustration in front of goal since joining Chelsea, the Spanish striker now has two in two games, with his strike against the Saints coming after Thursday's Europa League victor against MOL Vidi.
