Jimmy Butler verbally challenged team at practice

Jimmy Butler verbally challenged team at practice”

Butler has demanded a trade but Thibodeau has reportedly continued to beg him to stay and a near deal with Miami over the weekend fell apart when the Wolves asked for more.

Jimmy Butler reportedly requested a trade from Minnesota on September 18. The two teams had shared Butler's medical information but a deal didn't come together even with the urging of Taylor. At times, Butler has been working out away from the team at the facility since his trade request three weeks ago.He was with his teammates in the locker room at the team's practice facility Wednesday morning, league sources said. Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor took a different stance and told owners owners at the National Basketball Association board of governors meetings that "Butler is available, and prospective suitors should contact Taylor himself", according to Wojnarowski.

It could be a negotiating ploy by Minnesota to say they plan to enter the season with Butler, but with teams feeling they can't get a deal done with Minnesota until the price comes down, Butler back in a Timberwolves uniform may be the reality starting next week.

Barring a change in the dwindling trade market between now and the season opener in San Antonio on October 17, the Timberwolves are making preparations to start the season with Butler on the roster, league sources said... He averaged 12.9 points in 81 starts last season.

So where do we stand in the Jimmy Butler trade saga seven days from opening night? ESPN added that "Butler was vociferous and emotional at times", with his comments directed at president/coach Tom Thibodeau, general manager Scott Layden, center Karl-Anthony Towns and swingman Andrew Wiggins. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Butler was "determined to find a way to the Los Angeles Clippers" and was looking to pair with a second All-Star in the 2019 free agency class. Since then, he hadn't reported to Wolves practice or participated in preseason games until Wednesday.
