NES Online gets a fourth bonus game

NES Online gets a fourth bonus game”

Although the nostalgia is enough to keep some fans playing, Nintendo did announce that if players beat this version of The Legend of Zelda, they will unlock a more hard version called Second Quest. GameSpot spoke to creative director Thomas Grip who told the publication that he's a big fan of Nintendo and believes being able to play the game in handheld mode would bring a new dimension to the series. Nintendo has also stealth released The Legend of Zelda - Living the Life of Luxury, a special edition of the classic NES game that lets players start the game with a pile of rupees and handy items.

You could argue giving players all the items from the get-go kind of defeats the objective of Zelda, but I can understand newer players just wanting to run around and explore Hyrule without all the stress and frustration.

As we reported last week, Nintendo would be releasing three new NES games for Switch Online subscribers today.

The game is subheaded "Living the life of luxury!". The save file comes with the maximum 255 Rupees, the White Sword, a Magical Shield, the Blue Ring, and the Power Bracelet. It's never a bad thing to have more ways to play.

It seems a bit like it defeats the goal of the game, and in a way it does. It's not clear whether this second quest also grants you the additional starting equipment. With these resources you can pretty much go anywhere and do anything from the very start of the game, which is an interesting approach to opening up a potentially grueling older game to newer players. The original 20 include classics like Donkey Kong, Double Dragon, Dr. Mario, Super Mario Bros, and Tecmo Bowl.
