Woman Kicked Off Flight After Bringing "Emotional Support" Squirrel On Board

Woman Kicked Off Flight After Bringing

Because flying is an absolutely terrifying experience for a lot of people, emotional support animals are permitted on most USA airlines - but after a couple of, well, quite disturbing incidents, they've had to be pretty careful about which animals they allow to fly in the cabin.

A woman boarding a Frontier Airlines flight this week had to be escorted off the aircraft after she brought along her unlikely "emotional support" animal - with footage of the incident promptly going viral and getting picked up by local news station, News 6 WKMG.

The unnamed passenger claimed she had informed Frontier Airlines that she planned to bring "an emotional support animal" when booking the flight, which was bound for Cleveland, Ohio. "Rodents, including squirrels, are not allowed on Frontier flights", the airline said in a statement.

Orlando police were called when the woman, who remains unidentified, refused to deplane.

People were outraged that the peacock was refused to board the aircraft because he didn't "meet the guidelines for an emotional support animal".

"Emotional Support" Squirrel results in disembarkment of the owner from an airplane.

USA airlines are pretty strict about what animals they allow on board, and probably for good reasons. Exotic animal exploits aside, NPR's David Schaper reported, emotional support animals can address very real problems as some passengers "with severe anxiety, phobias, PTSD or other disabilities cannot travel without them".

"It was just heartbreaking to me", Monica told Click Orlando.

"They were wrong for the way they treated my mom", she told CBS affiliate WKMG. She also says her daughter called Frontier ahead of time to get clearance.

"Some people take tranquilizers".

Social media users were quick to give their opinion about the situation.

. "I love squirrels & our family even raised a baby squirrel for a year but you're not allowed to keep them as pets". Back in Orlando, passengers were allowed back on board after the woman and squirrel were removed.

When we think of squirrels, the first words that come into our minds aren't usually "emotionally supportive".
