Marc Leishman wins CIMB Classic in Malaysia by five shots”

Australian golfer Marc Leishman has stormed to an imperious five-shot victory in the US PGA Tour's CIMB Classic in Kuala Lumpur.

At the par-72 TPC Kuala Lumpur, Leishman closed with a seven-under par 65 to finish the only PGA Tour event in southeast Asia at 26-under par 262 for his fourth win on the PGA Tour.

He charged clear with a run of four consecutive birdies from the second hole, and drained a monster 45-foot putt over a ridge on the par-four ninth to blow out the lead to three shots.

Leishman finished five clear of Emiliano Grillo and American duo Chesson Hadley and Bronson Burgoon with two-time victor Thomas in a share of fifth spot after an eight-under 64.

Leishman becomes the first non-American to win the tournament since its inception in 2010 and earns him a $1 260 000 paycheque.

South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen, who shot 7-under 65 on Saturday, shot 3-under 60 on Sunday to join the five-way tie for fifth at 20-under with Woodland, Thomas, American Charles Howell III and Abraham Ancer of Mexico.

INCHEON, South Korea - In Gee Chun won the KEB Hana Bank Championship, closing with a 5-under 66 for a three-stroke victory over Charley Hull. It all would have looked a distant dream when the 34-year-old almost quit the game around the time of the 2015 Masters, when his wife Audrey was diagnosed with and nearly died from acute respiratory distress syndrome and toxic shock syndrome.

He capped the win with a birdie on No. 18.

"I won't say it made golf less important, but it made me realise that golf's not life or death". His only miscue on the day was a bogey on No. 13, but he was well ahead by then.

Woodland also had an up and down round and never got going. But he gave himself several birdie chances and converted seven of them. "Unfortunately, I wasn't able to play as well on the back nine, but four rounds in the 60s is always good", said Grillo.

Another American Stewart Cink raced into contention heading into the final round with nine birdies to finish with a 63, four shots off the pace.

"Disappointing, not really happy with the way I finished", said Sharma.

The next stop on the PGA Tour is The CJ Cup with live coverage on Sky Sports Golf starting on Thursday from 3am.
