Trump slams CNN's Jim Acosta in explosive press briefing

Trump slams CNN's Jim Acosta in explosive press briefing”

The CNN journalist at the White House on Wednesday engaged in a tense tug-of-war with Trump, who after answering several of his questions, said "That's enough".

She called Acosta's behavior "absolutely unacceptable".

During the news conference, President Trump said Republicans "defied history" to make Senate gains in the United States midterms.

The president confronted Acosta in a testy exchange after the CNN White House reporter field Trump with questions about the migrant caravan and Russian Federation investigation. As a female aide attempts to take the microphone away, Acosta brushes her aside.

Ms. Hostin gave an example that if she was holding a coffee cup, and then someone struck the cup, that would constitute battery because the cup "is an extension of me". You are rude, bad person.

In response, CNN said "this president's ongoing attacks on the press have gone too far", in a statement. "It is also completely disrespectful to the reporter's colleagues not to allow them an opportunity to ask a question".

The decision to expel Acosta came just hours after confirmation that the Republican Party had lost control of the US House of Representatives on Wednesday.

Peter Baker from The New York Times, who has been covering the White House for 22 years, said, "This is something I have never seen since I started covering the White House in 1996". The White House has accused him of provoking confrontations, and he, in turn, has become a favorite target of insults lobbed by Trump's supporters, particularly during the president's raucous rallies.

Video of the staff member trying to take the microphone from him quickly appeared online.

Jim Acosta tweeted, describing Sanders' allegation as a lie.

During the event, the president refused to answer Acosta's questions about indictments in the Russian Federation investigation, saying, "I'm not concerned about anything with the Russian Federation investigation, because it's a hoax".

"We stand by our decision to revoke this individual's hard pass".

Acosta responded that Sanders' description of events was "a lie".

The revocation of his pass 'was done in retaliation for his challenging questions at today's press conference, ' the statement said.' In an explanation, Press Secretary Sarah Sanders lied. "Revoking access to the White House complex is a reaction out of line to the purported offense and is unacceptable".

Stirewalt said that either way, the episode hurts the political discourse as the Acosta-Trump feud overshadowed "a bunch of good questions" from reporters like Fox News' John Roberts and CBS News' Major Garrett. "Jim Acosta has our full support", the network said. From Acosta's rants to CNN saying this is a threat to democracy, you'd think that the Trump White House tossed a Walter Cronkite-like reporter out onto the street.
