Raheem Sterling signs new three-year contract extension

Raheem Sterling signs new three-year contract extension”

Jamaican Raheem Sterling has signed a three-year contract extension at his Barclays Premier League (BPL) team Manchester City, committing him to the club until 2023 in a deal worth up to £300,000 per week.

Real Madrid are still looking for their Cristiano Ronaldo replacement, but their top Gareth Bale replacement has rejected any move by signing a new long-term deal.

"I'm delighted to sign".

But Guardiola is delighted with his progress on the pitch, which has seen him earn a new five-year deal, making him one of the best paid players at the club.

"Since Pep Guardiola arrived, Raheem's game has gone up a level so he now ranks alongside Harry Kane as England's best player". It's paid off and I'm really grateful'.

"Every season you come in you want to do better than your previous season. The expectation on us is high, but the great thing about football is that if you don't win you always get an opportunity in the next game". "With the coaching staff and the players we have in this team it's the flawless environment to develop and get better".

The Algeria worldwide has scored six goals in his first 17 appearances for the club but did miss a late penalty in the 0-0 draw with title rivals Liverpool last month.

Sterling bagged three of those goals, while also winning a controversial penalty against Shakhtar that he later admitted shouldn't have been given.

Sterling was one of Guardiola's standout players in City's record-breaking title run last season and has carried on that form this term with a string of impressive performances.

He said: "Raheem has improved dramatically in the past two seasons and is now one of the Premier League's best attacking players".

'His statistics tell their own story.

"He's quick, strong and excellent in front of goal - everything a modern-day forward needs to excel", he added. "We are both in quite similar situations, we just keep going and going", the City manager said.
