Former Patriots cornerback Brandon Browner sentenced to 8 years in prison”

The former National Football League quarterback was sentenced Tuesday to eight years in prison after pleading no contest in his attempted murder case, TMZ Sports reported.

The incident in question is incredibly dark, as Browner broke into his ex-girlfriend's home in LaVerne, California and dragged her around before attempting to smother her in a carpet.

According to reports, Browner was sentenced to 8 years behind bars after being found guilty for attempted murder after pleading no contest.

On Tuesday he was sentenced to eight years in prison for those charges, according to TMZ Sports. His robbery, burglary and false imprisonment chargers consequently were dropped in a plea deal. He has been given credit for 300 days served for good behavior in the time that he's already spent behind bars since his initial arrest in July, TMZ reports. Her two children were present throughout the entire ordeal.

Browner was reported to have had a previous relationship with the alleged victim and had an earlier domestic violence charge involving the victim and had a restraining order prohibiting contact with the alleged victim. Prosecutors had accused Browner of stealing a $10,000 rolex watch from the apartment.

Browner, now 34, played for the Seahawks from 2011-13, signing as a free agent prior to the 2011 season after having played previously for Calgary in the CFL.

The former All-Pro cornerback, who won Super Bowls with the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots, has been in trouble with the law several times.
