O2 customers not able to use mobile data

O2 customers not able to use mobile data”

In an online statement, O2 said: "We are aware our customers are unable to use data this morning".

Some users are still reporting issues with voice calls.

The company said one of their third party suppliers has identfied a software issue in their system.

O2 said its technical teams are working with its supplier's teams to fix the problem.

If you spent this morning freaking out you'd used up your data allowance and tried desperately to call O2 to give them a piece of your mind, you're not alone. "We'd encourage our customers to use wifi wherever they can and we apologise for the inconvenience caused".

Customers of O2, GiffGaff and virtual operators who use Telefonica's network in the United Kingdom have been hit by a spectacular outage across the country.

It has 25 million direct customers, but also provides services for the Sky, Tesco, Giffgaff and Lycamobile networks.

In total, around 32 million customers are affected. GiffGaff has confirmed its service is also offline. Transport for London said: "The company that updates the data to our network of Countdown Systems is now experiencing difficulties in providing this service. Our technical teams are working extremely hard to resolve this", the company said.

O2 said it will be sharing updates on its website when the service changes. "This issue is being investigated".

Some users have also reported problems with making voice calls, despite claims from O2 that voice services are unaffected.
