Nelly makes personal plea to Bryce Harper to sign with Cardinals

Nelly makes personal plea to Bryce Harper to sign with Cardinals”

"Yo, St. Louis Cardinals fans, yo I'm here with the hottest free agent to be, my man Bryce Harper", Nelly said in a social media video.

Only 26, Harper may just be entering his prime.

According to Nelly, it means that Harper is definitely joining the Cardinals.

The Dodgers, fully understanding the impact Harper could have on their already contender-status lineup, reportedly sent their biggest recruiter and most high-profile minority owner - Magic Johnson - to meet with Harper in Las Vegas. Johnson is part of the ownership group of the Dodgers.

As Harper's camp has staged a series of meetings in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, there are mixed signals on whether or not the Cubs are a factor in the talks and if the franchise's financial limitations really are restrictive enough to keep him out of reach.

Minority owner and National Basketball Association legend Magic Johnson led a delegation to Harper's home town of Las Vegas, suggesting at a minimum that pursuing Harper is a serious consideration for an organization that has not generally chased top free agents under president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman.

Some in the industry have speculated that Harper might want to wait for Machado, the other prized free agent in this year's class, to sign first to ensure he gets the biggest contract in big league history - in other words, so he knows the number to beat.
