Pete Shelley dead: Buzzcocks singer dies age 63”

Buzzcocks is known for their hit "Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)", according to BBC News.

Another fan, named Doug Shaw, tweeted: "Sad to learn of the death of Pete Shelley, The Buzzcocks were one of my favourite punk bands".

It did not elaborate on the details of Shelley's death but said that more information would be released later.

Pete Shelley, the lead singer of punk band The Buzzcocks, has died aged 63 of a suspected heart attack.

Pete Shelley, the singer, songwriter and founding member of seminal United Kingdom band Buzzcocks has died of a suspected heart attack in Estonia.

Norman Blake, frontman of Teenage Fanclub, paid tribute to the enduring musical legacy of Shelley, saying: "I love (d) Buzzcocks".

Shelley was born in Leigh and formed Buzzcocks in Bolton in 1975 with Howard Devoto. Like their contemporaries, the Buzzcocks scorned what they considered the pretensions and bloated style of mainstream groups and turned out brief, stripped-down songs, performed at manic speed.

It was at this time that Shelley talked about his bisexuality, which had been implicit in numerous Buzzcocks songs he had written.

The band was celebrated for their catchy, yet urgent three-minute songs and are often regarded, along with the Sex Pistols and The Clash, as among the originators of punk.

Thorn called Shelley an "amazing songwriter", while Gaiman tweeted, "part of my youth dies with him".
