Tim Paine distracts Murali Vijay while referring to Virat Kohli

Tim Paine distracts Murali Vijay while referring to Virat Kohli”

Lyon bagged five wickets in the first innings in Perth before nabbing two more - including the prized scalp of Virat Kohli - as India went five wickets down on Day 4.

Kohli had a go at Paine on day three saying, "if he messes it up it's 2-0, and who's going to talk then?"

The onfield verbal duel between rival captains Virat Kohli and Tim Paine has been one of the talking points of the second Test here but Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood Monday played it down, saying it was done in good spirits.

Later during India's second innings, Paine turned to Murali Vijay and made an comment related to the Indian captain.

"Keep your cool, Virat", Paine finished up with, drawing a smile from the Indian skipper.

"That's unbelievable to get something like that from Sachin Tendulkar", he told reporters.

Paine delivered his subtle sledge with a wry smile on his face following the dismissal of Kohli for 17 off 40 deliveries.

Paine pledged to tone down any words on the field following his appointment as skipper, in a bid to clean up the Australian team's image and win back the public's support after the "Sandpapergate" ball-tampering scandal in South Africa earlier this year. It is part of the game, but nothing too serious.

When asked about the pitch, Shami said it is like a normal Perth pitch and that is how it has played so far. When you play Test cricket it is a long match and you have a long time so a little bit aggression is there and sometimes you react on the moment. "We need stay disciplined and patient", Hazlewood said. "Anytime I'm playing in Australia we feel pretty confident, especially the bowlers feel very confident in getting 20 wickets and a result", he said.

Manjrekar had said something similar on Sunday, "It's sad that the bowler has taken such a good wicket with a fabulous delivery but the cameras are all focussing on Kohli".

"What happens on the outside, what the opposition does, it doesn't affect us".

We respect the game and its traditions. "Not what step of ours is being watched and what is not".
