Former Hearthstone developers are working on a new Marvel game”

There are no concrete details (or even satisfactory hints) about the parts of the Marvel universe Second Dinner's game features. You can check out their announcement video below, then share any theories you have about the game in the comment section!

The US start-up was found by Ben Brode and Hamilton Chu, Hearthstone's game director and executive producer respectively, in 2018 and was working out of Brode's garage before moving to an office in Irvine, California.

NetEase vice president Ethan Wang said: "The Second Dinner team has a strong track record of delivering quality games". Some sort of Marvel-based card game is a reasonable bet, as everyone on the founding team-Brode, Chu, Mike Schweitzer, Yong Woo, and Jomaro Kindred-were all senior Hearthstone developers prior to teaming up for Second Dinner.

As for the partnership with Marvel, Head of Marvel Games, Jay Ong, expressed great optimism about working with Second Dinner on this new project. "Or maybe Spectacular! Or Incredible.or Mighty...or quite possibly all of the above!" "I've worked with Hamilton and Ben for years and they are exactly who we want making Marvel games", Ong said.

Second Dinner have netted $30 million (£23.7m) from NetEase's minority investment, which should keep the lights on while they work on their mysterious whatever. "I made a spreadsheet so I'm pretty sure".

Second Dinner is now looking for a client engineer and technical artist, and it's "really excited" to get some new perspectives on its game, Brode said. Second Dinner is still expanding, but it already has a prototype and playtesting going on for whatever the game will be.

Between last fall's Spider-Man PS4, the upcoming Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, and the various mobile tiles21 now available, it looks like Marvel-based video games are coming back in a big way.
