Google Chrome for Windows 10 to Soon Get a Native Dark Mode

Google Chrome for Windows 10 to Soon Get a Native Dark Mode”

We have heard a lot about Google's intentions of rolling out a Chrome Dark Mode, first for macOS and then for Windows 10.

The reasoning behind Chrome's dark mode skin is that users can enable it to counter eye fatigue and reduce battery consumption, being known that dark themes save battery life on devices with AMOLED displays. With native dark mode support, Google Chrome will bring a comfortable Web browsing experience on Windows machines especially in low lighting conditions. Chrome should respect this. It was confirmed that Google has started working on an official dark mode for Google Chrome on Mac OS Mojave about three weeks ago.

As MSPowerUser reports, via Techdows.com, a member of the Chromium team and senior Chrome Engineer Peter Kasting has signalled that Google is working on a dark mode for the desktop browser but users should use a dark theme for now, if they prefer a dark UI.

The overwhelming demand for dark modes in apps is beginning to see serious results now, to the point where 2019 could be the year we see system-wide dark modes across all the major platforms. Kasting wrote "For desktop, native dark mode support is in progress; in the meantime, we generally suggest people use a dark theme". You'll need to download Chrome Canary to make it work. To do this, right-click the shortcut Properties. You can select either the light or the dark theme just like in the Settings App or can select Change Automatically which will enable the Choose custom start time... option.

Append -force-dark-mode at the end of the Target field, like in the image below. This dark mode is basically one of the best modes which is implemented and most used by the users in the applications.

The macOS work has top priority (P1).

There will be no background application running as it will be configuring the Task Scheduler to toggle between the dark and the light themes automatically.
