British PM Theresa May could further delay Brexit vote

British PM Theresa May could further delay Brexit vote”

Labour's Yvette Cooper MP, who leads the group that includes former Tory ministers Nicky Morgan, Oliver Letwin, and Nick Boles, said, "Our amendment would block some of the Treasury's no-deal powers unless parliament has explicitly voted for no deal or unless the government has requested an extension of article 50".

She added: "What concerns me about the People's Vote movement is, as I've just said, is that instead of spending their time trying to change people's minds, they spend their time smacking the Labour Party around the head, some of them".

She said these involved new measures specific to Northern Ireland, a greater role for Parliament in shaping the Brexit process and further assurances from Brussels, with the last yet to be finalised.

She did not say whether she would try a second time to get the deal passed by parliament if defeated, and refused to hold a second referendum, which she said would be "divisive and disrespectful" to the voters of the 2016 vote.

Asked if he could guarantee that no one would die as a result of a no-deal Brexit, Mr Hancock told Sky News' Sophy Ridge On Sunday: "I'm confident that we will have the unhindered supply of medicines so long as the plans that we have in place are properly enacted".

Emily Thornberry has attacked the campaign for a second Brexit referendum for thinking its job is to "slap the Labour Party around".

Theresa May warns that Brexit may not happen if MPs vote down her deal.

Tory MP Bob Neill says the majority of his party support the Prime Minsiter's Brexit deal ahead of a crucial vote in Parliament.

"I would say don't let the search for the flawless become the enemy of the good because the danger there is that we end up with no Brexit at all".

The Prime Minister repeatedly sidestepped questions in the interview on whether she would simply keep putting the deal back to MPs with amendments in an attempt to get it through.

The survey of more than 25,000 voters also showed that 41 percent of Britons thought the final decision about Brexit should be made by a new public vote versus 36 percent who believe it should be up to parliament.

Prominent Brexiteer Peter Bone said a no-deal scenario was the only way to guarantee the United Kingdom actually leaves the EU.

The MP, a key ally of Jeremy Corbyn, also said Labour would back another European Union referendum if Mrs May was replaced as prime minister by someone who backed a no-deal Brexit.

"Given that parliament voted overwhelmingly, in the end, to have the referendum, parliament voted overwhelmingly, in the end, to accept the result of the referendum, and parliament has now legislated to implement the referendum, I find it rather lame that people are now saying "Oh, we didn't mean that".

He said he hopes Mrs May would be able to go back to the European Union at that point to "secure changes to the political declarations". The EU has shown in the past that it will move but only if faced with a resolute red line on the part of the UK Government.

"And it seems to me, at a personal level. that is the time when we would then say to people, "Now make your decision on what we have managed to conclude".
