Morning Roundup: Djokovic, Halep top seeds for Australian Open”

Defending champion Caroline Wozniacki takes on Belgian Alison van Uytvanck in round one and could potentially meet 30th seed Maria Sharapova in the third round.

Serena Williams already has seven Aussie titles, and is a strong contender to add another after skipping her title defense in 2018 while she was on leave after having a baby.

Chinese top tennis player Wang Qiang is the 21st seed at the Australian Open on Thursday as Novak Djokovic and Simona Halep led the men's and women's singles seeding lists respectively.

Three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray will face Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut in the first round of the Australian Open.

Second seeded Nadal begins against Australian James Duckworth, fourth seed Alexander Zverev faces Slovenian Aljaz Bedene while last year's runner-up Marin Cilic has a tricky encounter with Australian Bernard Tomic.

The Spanish 22nd seed defeated Novak Djokovic on his way to the title in Doha last week while concerns about Murray's fitness grew as he struggled through a practice match against world number one Djokovic at Melbourne Park on Thursday. But being so close, I'll give it a go.

The Scot was bundled out of the Brisbane International warm-up last week in round two by Russia's Daniil Medvedev and headed straight to Melbourne to fit in some much-needed practice.

Serena Williams will face Tatjana Maria in the first round, and could meet either Genie Bouchard or Peng Shaui in the second round.

Caroline Wozniacki, who won her first Grand Slam title in Melbourne past year after a tough final against Halep, is in the same section as Maria Sharapova and has Petra Kvitova at the top of her quarter. Halep has drawn another first-round against Kaia Kanepi, who beat her at the same stage at last year's U.S. Open, and a possible third rounder against unseeded Venus Williams.

Asked if he ever doubted about his comeback, Wawrinka - who underwent a double surgery in August 2017 - said: 'I did think a few times that I may not be able to come back to my old self, old level. "I feel like these courts are suited for me, so it's incredible to be back. I'm just enjoying every minute of it".

The pair have met four times in Australian Open finals, with the Serb winning them all.
