Cesc Fabregas completes Monaco move from Chelsea

Cesc Fabregas completes Monaco move from Chelsea”

Monaco have signed midfielder Cesc Fabregas from Chelsea. But with Monaco it will be totally different as he goes straight into a relegation scrap, with Henry's side mired in 19th place ahead of Sunday's (Monday NZT) trip to face sixth-place Marseille.

Fabregas' departure from Chelsea sees him end four-and-a-half years at Stamford Bridge after he joined the Blues from Barcelona in 2014, with the Spain global helping the west London outfit win two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup.

Nevertheless, Monaco have already progressed in both domestic cup competitions since the turn of the year, and the arrival of Fabregas takes the number of signings made by Monaco in the January window to three already.

Fabregas bade an emotional farewell to Stamford Bridge at the end of last week's FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest.

"Big goals and outstanding moments of quality, all backed up by the ultimate aim, which is to be part of a successful, trophy-winning team".

"It's a great pleasure to join Monaco, a new project for me, " Fabregas said.

Fabregas scored 22 goals for the London club in 198 appearances.

Fabregas is now joining up with Thierry Henry, a former teammate and current manager of the municipality club, who was the Spaniard's captain at Arsenal.

"The group is of quality with young players and a young coach".

With both Leandro Parades and Nicolo Barella being closely linked with the club, Chelsea must be confident that Fabregas' void will be filled in the coming weeks.
