'Criminal Minds' to end with Season 15

'Criminal Minds' to end with Season 15”

A fan-favorite in reruns and on streaming, "Criminal Minds" has seen its linear ratings slip over time, with the now airing season averaging a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49, according to Nielsen's live-plus-same-day numbers.

CBS has announced it has renewed the long-running Criminal Minds TV show for a 15th and final season.

Along with the possible appearances of some of the show's departed stars, Messer teased some of the most memorable bad guys from the series could make an appearance. The final 10 episodes will be shot back-to-back with the Season 14 episodes now in production. It kicked off this year with its 300th episode, which picked up from the season 13 cliffhanger when two members of the BAU were captured by cult leader Benjamin Merva (Michael Hogan).

No specific reason was given for the show coming to an end. Prior to that, series star Thomas Gibson was sacked from the show after an on-set altercation with a producer.

CBS" EVP of current programs, Amy Reisenbach said that "It is the quintessential CBS hit.

Once Patinkin left the show, I kind of lost interest.

"Criminal Minds" was one the forefront of the whole modern cop drama and was pretty much a whitewashed version of "True Detective". It has suffered from a few controversies in its long time on the air, including an altercation with a producer which resulted in actor Thomas Gibson being fired. The show has become known for featuring a quote at the beginning of each episode, recited by one of the aforementioned characters, which has some bearing on the theme or events the episode depicts. That's a run they can all be proud of.
