Derby County: Leeds United contacted over training ground 'spy'”

Derby County have confirmed that police were contacted after a employee of Leeds United was caught "acting suspiciously" outside of their training ground.

"I am the only one responsible for it, because I didn't ask for the permission of Leeds to do it".

"Yesterday I talked for Frank Lampard and he told me that, for him, I didn't respect the fair play rules. For some people it's the wrong thing to do and for other's it's not the wrong thing to do".

'Now, Leeds can beat you 4-1 they are a fantastic team but we had someone in the bushes that day so twice this season now.

"If we're going to start talking about "culturally, I did it somewhere else" - that doesn't work for me". It's disrupted our build-up to the game.

"So I think you look at all three of those games and you think, we can go away from home and play well and almost get a result against Chelsea and obviously win the other two games".

Earlier a Derbyshire Police statement had confirmed a man was removed from a position near the club's training ground.

'No. and I don't care if it's cultural and it happens in another country.

"If I'm lucky enough to do well and travel to another country I'll find out what the etiquette is in that country and abide by that".

'What I will say is, we were training the day before the game on team tactics, team shape, personnel, how we're going to press, how we're going to work off the ball.

"If somebody wants to say that is not relevant, then if tactics aren't relevant, that means Pep Guardiola, Mauricio Pochettino, Jurgen Klopp, all the great managers, are just lucky".

An EFL statement read: "We are aware of the reports in relation to an incident at the training ground of Derby County".

"I don't think we need to [investigate], because he's admitted it so it's easily dealt with".

Despite that they remain two points clear of second-placed Norwich City in the league table as they aim to return to the Premier League for the first time since 2003.
