Google Assistant now comes with a real-time translator for 27 languages

Google Assistant now comes with a real-time translator for 27 languages”

It's true. Google's Amazon Alexa-rivalling voice assistant has cropped up on the spec sheets of many products announced at CES this week, including Samsung TVs, JBL's Link Bar and the Klipsch Dolby Atmos soundbar.

Google Assistant might be pretty much a standard option for Android phones, but Google found another way to extend its reach.

Google announced new features, dozens of product integrations and an expansive plan to create a wider platform for its virtual assistant at CES.

Google Assistant, which works on the Google Home line of smart speakers and displays, is integrated with more than 1,600 home-automation brands and more than 10,000 devices, according to a Google blog.

With so many updates, Google's voice-powered artificial intelligence was the focus of its attention for this year's CES with nearly every single news item was related to it.

You can check out all the new updates to Google Assistant here. The assistant will also allow Android and iOS users to check their flight simply by saying: "OK Google, check-in on my flight".

Harman-owned JBL has unveiled its new "Link Drive" at CES 2019 - a universal auto accessory which brings Google Assistant to virtually any vehicle.

The new interpretation tool will launch when users say phrases such as "Hey Google, be my French interpreter", and will give real time spoken and written translation to aid conversation, Google says. By just saying, "Hey Google, take me home", the Assistant will immediately guide you on the most convenient route home.

The company said Google Assistant is set to be present in one billion devices by the end of January, in 80 countries and in almost 30 languages. Google has partnered with chains like Choice Hotels, AccorHotels and InterContinental Hotels Group, as well as travel services such as Priceline, Expedia, Mirai, and Travelclick to offer a wide range of options.

How often do you use Google Assistant?

The research also highlighted that 65% of respondents are using their voice assistant for activities like making voice calls, playing music and accessing news, instead of their smartphones.
