Truck driver who caused Humboldt Broncos crash pleading guilty to all charges”

Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, 29, was originally scheduled to appear Tuesday in Melfort provincial court in Saskatchewan for defence election but instead entered guilty pleas to 16 counts of unsafe driving causing death and 13 counts of risky driving causing bodily harm in connection with the crash last April.

The bus and his semi collided at the Armley Corner April 6th, as the Broncos were travelling to Nipawin to face the Hawks in the SJHL playoffs.

The maximum penalty for unsafe driving causing death is 14 years in prison.

Sentencing is scheduled for January 28 in Melfort.

Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, 29, made an appearance Tuesday morning in provincial court in Melfort, Saskatchewan, according to CBC.

The Broncos' bus was travelling on a rural highway to a playoff game in Nipawin, Sask., on April 6 of past year when it collided with a tractor-trailer that had passed a stop sign and crossed into its path. The maximum sentence for risky driving causing death is 14 years in jail, for unsafe driving causing injury, the maximum sentence is 10 years in jail.

"It's something we all have to live with for the rest of our lives". The report of the review suggested having the trees removed and posting more and larger stop signs to warn drivers of the intersection earlier. "The rest of the sentence doesn't matter to me ..."

Saskatchewan officials apologize for mixing up the identities of one of the dead and one of the survivors.

A total of 29 people - including team members, coaches and the bus driver - were on board at the time of the crash, authorities confirmed. In 1997, six people were killed when a pickup truck heading east failed to stop on Highway 335 and was hit by a southbound tractor-trailer. His lawyer later said Mr. Sidhu did not want to put the families through a trial.

The driver of the semi-truck was unharmed. Drivers seeking a Class 1 commercial licence are to undergo at least 121.5 hours of training.

The vehicle belonged to a small Calgary-based trucking firm, whose owner, Sukhmander Singh, has been charged in Alberta with federal and provincial safety violations. "I know Mr. Sidhu has also been deeply affected by this tragedy".

The Humboldt Broncos also released a statement on the guilty pleas.
