January 30 is Bell Let's Talk Day”

"The stigma around mental illness is absolutely declining and Bell Let's Talk day and other mental health champions, as well as, have had an impact on that, for sure", Stevenson said.

The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) recognizes that one in five Canadians will suffer from a mental illness at some point in their lives.

Paige Hutchinson, from the Student Success Centre, hands a toque to Kristy Marshall, along with fellow education students Stephanie Nicholl and Aaron Jang, as they stopped to write messages of encouragement Wednesday as part of Bell Lets Talk Day at the University of Lethbridge. He also pledged $50 million dollars over five years to various mental health initiatives and organizations, then another $50 million.

On Bell Let's Talk Day, Bell will donate more towards mental health initiatives in Canada by contributing 5 cents for every applicable text, call, tweet, social media video view and use of the company's Facebook frame or Snapchat filter.

According to Bell Media, between 2010 and 2018 Let's Talk day generated 867,449,649 events and raised 93 millon ($93,423,628.80 to be exact), including $7 million ($6,919,199.75) generated previous year.

Cope took his personal connection to create a program of best practices in dealing with employee mental health issues at Bell.

How will you support your employees' mental health today?

CCH said the day was planned for youth, but so much interest and excitement was generated that many hospital staff members and other adults dropped in and decorated T-shirts. It's been an incredible outpouring of support for those who struggle with mental illness over the last eight years, and we're now ready to break a billion total messages.

It's Bell Let's Talk Day 2019 and you're invited to talk, text and get engaged in the conversation on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat all day long to help fight the stigma, call for action and drive Bell's donations to mental health at no cost to you.

Bell says that as a result, large and small institutions and organizations in every region of the country received new funding for access, care and research from Bell Let's Talk and from governments and corporations that joined the cause.
