IPhone users can now unlock, lock app via Face ID, Touch ID”

Once you moved to the Screen Lock screen, the app shows the available authentication method - either Face ID or Touch ID - that you can enable to lock your WhatsApp. You can finally setup Face ID or Touch ID to lock your WhatsApp app on iOS devices.

According to the report by WABetaInfo, users can also set the time duration before which the app locks down WhatsApp.

WhatsApp is among the most popular messaging service in the world. You can't lock select chats within the app yet but even an app-wide lock method is a useful feature. WhatsApp uses your phone's Internet connection (4G/3G/2G/EDGE or Wi-Fi, as available) to let you message and call friends and family. The feature allows both Touch ID for older iOS-powered devices and Face ID for modern devices. Since iOS itself locks a native app locking ability, it is up to developers to add this feature to their apps. A fingerprint authentication feature appears to be under development for Android and it could be released in the coming update.

Users will want to be careful about their notification settings if they choose to secure their app, though, specifically message previews.
