Celtics 'remain determined' to Trade for Anthony Davis in Offseason

Celtics 'remain determined' to Trade for Anthony Davis in Offseason”

The Celtics should be at almost full strength when they welcome LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers to TD Garden Thursday night hours after the National Basketball Association trade deadline.

The report also states the Boston Celtics are encouraging the Pelicans to hang on to Davis past the deadline and wait until the summer to deal when they can offer a more substantial package.

Pelicans star big man Anthony Davis requested a trade more than week ago.

If the Pelicans hold on to Davis for the rest of the season, the Celtics could potentially offer a package including Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and several draft picks, which might edge out the Lakers' offer, even if Magic Johnson is willing to part with everyone except LeBron James. Irving, 26, had previously said he planned to re-sign with the Celtics in the summer but has recently wavered in public on that promise. He left Cleveland Cavaliers in order to lead a team of his own and he has the opportunity with the Celtics, who have a young roster packed with talent and the addition of Davis will make them title contenders.

Davis Sr.is referencing to Danny Ainge's decision to not only not pay, but trade Thomas out of Boston after the beloved 5-foot-9 point guard played through a severe hip injury and death of his sister in the 2017 playoffs. "I'm not saying that's definitely gonna happen, but if you force me to make a prediction with all there is that still has to come, I would say that's what happens", he added. According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, the Pelicans "aren't interested" in what Los Angeles has to offer.

The Los Angeles franchise is said to have presented five different offers to the Pelicans - that's how desperate they are to beat off the competition.

The Bucks have yet to inquire about a deal for Davis, sources told Wojnarowski, who added that such a trade would be extremely hard to execute due to their roster composition.
